| The Aston Martin DB 2, based on the DB it replaced was produced from 1953 through to 1957. Visually the car differed by its wraparound windscreen, larger bumpers, and repositioned headlights.
Built by Tickford in the UK, 234 MK 2 DB 2s produced with just 35 of them as FHCs. Often referred to as the , the idea came to light when a 1954 MK 1 example was sent to Mulliner of Birmingham to be fitted with a fixed roof with similar lines to that of the convertible. The results were aesthetically pleasing and gave passengers in the rear significantly more headroom, even if it was a rare sight to see these seats occupied.
The car we have here is just one of 16 RHD cars built. In 1981 the car benefited from a comprehensive ground up restoration in Adelaide, with no expense spared. The car has been seldom used since with many years of careful storage in dry conditions. 15 years on the car presents superbly and starts and runs beautifully which is a testament to the quality of the restoration work done. The car comes complete with an excellent history file documenting its life from the beginning.
Having recently been through our specialist workshop the car has been re-commissioned and is now ready for its new owner. |
